MY APPROACH TO HELPING
Are you looking to create a healthy, meaningful, joyful life? Many of my clients are having a hard time coping with new life circumstances, such as becoming a parent, getting divorced, changing jobs, moving to a new area, losing a loved one, & so on. I help individuals and couples with finding effective solutions to a wide range of problems & issues. I have had years of experience in working with career decision-making, job-searching, employment transitions, resume writing, marital problems, work-related problems, interpersonal problems, spiritual problems, anxiety, & other mental health issues. The difficulties people face vary...
My counseling is a collaborative approach with my clients, viewing you and I as partners in the process of seeking improvement in the quality and meaningfulness of your life. I view myself as less of an authority & more of a consultant, encourager & resource person for my clients. We will take an integrated, multimodal, positive approach to a treatment plan.
Therapy is an important investment in oneself, & I respect your right to privacy, choice, & dignity. I want to include you in every step of the goal planning & implementation to reach your fullest potential in as brief time as possible! Sometimes, I have found that the presence of canines in treatment allows us to move more quickly towards awareness & change
WHAT I LOVE ABOUT BEING A PSYCHOTHERAPIST
I have the unique joy of combining my love of animals, and the amazing magic animals have, with my passion for the work I do best in helping people. Animal Assisted Psychotherapy (AAP) is the integration of an animal as an adjunct to traditional counseling or psychotherapy. The animal works with the therapist within a specified treatment plan and interventions are designed with the specific client and specific animal in mind to achieve a particular therapeutic goal.
Animals can provide a sense of calm, comfort, or safety and divert attention away from a stressful situation and toward one that provides pleasure. Advocates of animal-assisted therapy say that developing a bond with an animal can help people develop a better sense of self-worth and trust, stabilize their emotions, and improve their communication, self-regulation, and socialization skills.
We may not all choose to use Animal-assisted therapy in conjunction with traditional therapy work, and that?s okay! I offer each individual, couple, and family the opportunity for meetings which will serve you best.
We can meet face-to-face in an office, with or without the canines, or confidentially via teleconferencing at your convenience. I look forward to answering any questions you have about my practice in a brief, complementary call and you can make an appointment @ www.robinfcounseling.com
