Martin Schafer
About Me
Martin Schafer is Chief of the Fayette
County Public Schools Police Department. In this role, he leads 70 school
resources officers and 8 civilian staff members charged with serving the
students and staff within Fayette County Public Schools. Before this
assignment, he served as an operations lieutenant, sergeant, and officer in the
department. Throughout his 25-year Army National Guard career, he completed two
tours in Iraq, one as a Rifle Platoon Leader (Operation Iraqi Freedom) and the
other as a Forward Support Company Commander (Operation New Dawn). Martin was
twice awarded The Bronze Star Medal and the Combat Action Badge for his service
during these combat operations. He is currently a Lieutenant Colonel in the
Kentucky Army National Guard serving as the logistics officer at the Wendell H.
Ford Regional Training Center in Western Kentucky.
